Flametail Hellunds
As far as scientists have been able to determine, Flametail Hellunds are somewhere between the fabled Hellhounds, and Kistune. They are rather small, so they can only figure that they are somehow related to fennec foxes. They are not technically from this realm, and are believed to dwell mostly in the spirit world, but come over to our side to seek out partners such as witches and general companions. They do not discriminate based on species though, as they have been known to attach themselves to humans and animals alike. They seem to be able to switch between our dimension and the spirit one easily, and by choice, though it has been discovered that they will completely cease to exist in our realm if their flame is extinguished.

Name: Elegance Pronouns: He/him Age: 50 years Summoning Star: 9 (finally understand rarities ^^") Traits Displayed: r/y/o flames, horse coat colors, bright colors, Genetics: CFc/Dcc/Stc/Spc/Fxc/HCc/Ssc/Xfu/Ltu/Dpu/Cfr/Hr/BCr/Tr Favorite Treat: Blackberries Summoning Ritual: At the top I placed a handful of blackberries, going clockwise I placed a lovely turquoise ribbon, a sprig of lilacs, eggshells of a robin already hatched, some well preserved fall leaves, a deep blue polished stone, a soft blanket that would be his to sleep on, an arrowhead I found in the woods once, and a lit candle made of blue died wax. Finally, I placed a freshly baked loaf of bread in the center. Whilst placing the objects I murmured words of welcome for, what would hopefully, be my new companion. I told them that I would make sure to bring them the freshest berries when I could, I would be sure that they would always have a warm place to rest and that I would never abandon them. Finally I whispered to them the secret that they would keep forever, as my closest companion. With that, the candle I had placed suddenly burned brightly and in a woosh, Elegance appeared. He glanced from side to side, then sniffed down at the baked bread. He took a few bites, almost experimentally before moving on to the other items in the star. He sniffed at the lilacs and sneezed before discovering the blackberries which he delicately ate, one berry at a time. Finally, that finished, he turned to walk solemnly in my direction, stopping just before me. I tentatively reached out a hand and El gently bumped his smooth head into it. And I knew we would be together forever. | Design © Inkeyu of CS | Character © PixieStoryteller (me!) |

Name: Obsession Pronouns: He/him Age: 2 weeks old Parent 1: Crisenth (Not Mine) Parent 2: Beelzebub (Not Mine) Summoning Star: 3 points Traits Displayed: Dark colors, Stripes, horse coat colors/patterns, spinal spikes, W/P/G flames, bright colors, tail spikes, saber teeth, four eyes Genetics: Cfc/DCc/STc/Spc/Fxc/HCc/SSc/CFu/Xfu/Sfu/Ltu/Dpu/BCr/TSu/STu/Cfr/Wsr/Tr/FEr/Lcx Favorite Treat: Raspberries Summoning Ritual: I looked dubiously at the three pointed star before me, hoping I had set everything up correctly. However, right on time the candles ignited, and I didn't pause any longer, afraid of missing my opportunity. "I summon you. " I murmured as I placed a handful of raspberries at the tip of the star. "I welcome you. " I continued as I placed a green, iridescent scarf on the next point. "I honor you." As I placed a bouquet of roses on the third point. "I love you." I whispered as I placed a diamond in the center. With that the candles burned bright with a flash of red, green, white, and then went out. A moment... then another. Then a burst of multicolored flame produced a wide eyed Hellund in the center of the star. Immediately he leaped to the pile of raspberries, sniffed then, but instead of eating them, he leaped to the roses. He sniffed those too, but then started scratching at them with a desperate energy. Worried that something was wrong, I tried to reach out to help, but catching my movement, the little fellow snapped at me! So I drew back, and watched, the worry that I had done something very wrong growing in the back of my head. The moment I drew back, though, he went back to his work, scraping first the roses, then the scarf, and finally the diamond into a pile with his raspberries. Again, a burst of flames happened, and he was gone, taking everything I had placed with him. I sat down, right there in the dirt, and put my face in my hands, figuring I had messed up horribly. However, before my remorse could turn into full blown self pity, yet another burst of flames happened, and there he was, staring straight at me with his burning gaze. I froze, almost afraid to move, not sure if I was about to be attacked, perhaps. The creature took a hesitant step toward me, then another with more confidence. Then his gait change to a prance as he suddenly seemed unafraid and relaxed. He rubbed his body against my leg. I hesitantly reached out a hand and he, without hesitation, nuzzled his head into my palm. With relief I gently pet my new companion. I guess he's just a bit quirky! |

I was taken aback by the suddenness and wasted a few precious seconds collecting my wits! But then I snapped out of it, quickly placing the first of my offerings, a handful of candied violets, on the first point. "C-c-can't wait to meet you!" I stammered, my original, well planned out words completely leaving my head. "Um, I pray your journey here is smooth." I continued, voice steadier now as I placed a closed locket on the second point. "I look forward to our journey together." I murmured, calm now as I placed a few dried rose petals on the third point. "I will treasure you always." I said solemnly as I placed an old ring in the center, gleaming gold in the flickering candle light. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, without a burst of flames or a flash of light or sound or anything, she was there, staring at me, her head slightly tilted. Ignoring everything I had placed, she stepped towards me. I was on my knees in order to place the final object, and she gently placed her paw in my left knee, as if asking a favor. I obediently, though carefully, rocked back and sat cross legged before her. She immediately curled up in my lap, nuzzling my leg with her soft nose. I carefully reached over to the violets, doing my best not to disturb her. I offered them tentatively to her and she daintily ate them from my hand. |

I just knew it already. As the candles lit, I smiled to myself as I placed the strawberry flavored mochi on what I believed to be the top of the star. Then, going clockwise, I placed a pale pink silk ribbon knowing she would be pretty just like it, a white rose to represent her affectionate nature, a handful of eider down to represent her soft heart, a bottle of clear spring water I had collected myself to mirror her pure spirit, and a rubber ball to placate her playful personality. Finally, in the center I gently placed a page of flowers I had very carefully pressed years ago for... personal reasons. In order, as I placed the objects, I spoke these words, "Come, sweet one, and feast. Come, and grace us with your beauty. Come, and be cherished. Come, and I shall keep you comfortable. Come, and be safe here. Come, and we will play. Come, and I will share my heart with you." As I finished, I took a step back and waited with the others standing by, looking on attentively. Even Obsession was staying still for the time being to watch. And then the candles flare and a pink flame flared in the center. Delicately stepping forth from its depths stepped a hellund. She glanced around, tail waving in curiosity and greeting. Then she turned to her mochi and ate it with intense satisfaction. Afterwards she trotted over to us, and nuzzled up to me before greeting her other new friends. She seemed excited to get to know them all and, as I expected, was very sweet and affectionate with all of them. I looked forward to our future all together. | Design © Inkeyu of CS | Character © PixieStoryteller (me!) |

Vor
Name: Vor'Ordained
Pronouns: He/him/they/them Age: 56 years Summoning Star: 9 Points Traits Displayed: R/Y/O flames, dark colors, stripes, spots, spinal spikes, spiky face mask, bright colors, tail spikes, wings, four eyes, transparent body/parts*, unique body spikes (no genetic code for this yet!) Genetics: CFc/DCc/STc/SPc/Hcc/SSc/Cfu/Nfu/SFu/Ltu/Dpu/BCr/TSu/Stu/Cfr/Hr/Xlr/WSr/Tr/FEr/tpl Favorite Treat: Candy Corn Summoning Ritual: "Ok," I muttered as I placed the last candle around the star, "I can do this." I was rather intimidated, you didn't see a 9 pointed star every day. Suddenly I felt a soft nudge on my right hand. Glancing to the side I smiled to see El, eyes looking steadily into mine. His star had been 9 points as well. Though back then I hardly knew what I was doing, and this star was... different. I took deep breath and stood up and just as I did, the candles I had placed suddenly burst into flame. "Oh boy, here we go." I said, hands shaking as they brought out the bag of my offerings. First, as always, I pulled out the treat I felt would be this Hellund's favorite: a small bag of candy corn. I had placed them in a sack cloth bag which I placed, making sure it was open enough for (hopefully) my new friend to get at them. I set the bag down at the point of the star that I felt was the top and then continued down the others: a raven feather I thought they'd think was pretty, a mask made of golden sequins and peacock feathers, a large eagle's talon, a jagged lava rock that sparkled when placed in sunlight, an uncut ruby, a small mirror in which they can see how amazing they are, a piece of coal which I set aflame before placing it, and a piece of wood that I had pulled the bark off of, smoothed it down, and lacquered it so that it could be dark and smooth and reflected the candle light. Finally, in the center I placed a faded card on the front of which was printed "Happy Birthday!" and the inside of which would remain a mystery to all by myself and my new friend. "Thank you for considering my offerings," I intoned after placing the card, "and I hope you have a safe journey here and that we continue to have a safe journey together." Then I waited... and waited... It had nearly been a minute, and nothing had changed. My heart began to sink as I realized I must have done something wrong. I decided to wait a little bit longer, just in case. But it was in vain. At last I let out a breath I had been holding, feeling the corners of my eyes pricking in my disappointment. "I... guess not this time, El." I told him, as I moved towards the nearest candle to blow it out. But El, to my utter surprise, growled and grabbed my sleeve in his teeth. That was usually Obsession's trick (who seemed to have decided this wasn't worth his time). I stared at my usually placed Hellund. El huffed and stared hard at me, not letting go of my sleeve. Just then, the candles flared and there was a rush of air. And then, he was there, wings flared out for a moment as he appeared. With a flap, the candles were extinguished and all I could see in the darkness were his glowing eyes for a moment. They disappeared, though I could hear the soft rustle of leaves as the new Hellund walked around the clearing. As he did, my eyes grew accustomed to the dark enough to see that he seemed to be by the candy corn. I assumed he was eating them. I decided to sit on the ground, cross legged, to wait. After he had had his fill, he turned to me, ignoring everything else in the circle... or perhaps he had already gone over them all when I couldn't see him. He stalked forward and stopped before me. I reached out to pat his head as I was used to doing with the other two. "Ow!" I yelped and then sucked in my breath. I hadn't noticed the sharp thorn like spikes on his head when he'd first appeared. Carefully, I tried again, this time patting the side of his head. He leaned into the touch, and warmth filled my heart. ......................................................................... Three days later... I sat on the couch, reading a book as I listened to some classical music. Elegance was curled up, half on my stomach and half in my lap. Sesh was off somewhere, as usual I wasn't sure exactly where, though he never caused too much trouble... in the house anyway. And then there was our new friend, Vor. He lay curled up in front of the fire, peacefully napping. Though apparently not too deeply. A bell rang at the door suddenly. I startled out of the exciting part of my book, wondering for a second what that could be. Quickly my brain ran through the possibilities and then I was suddenly panicking. You see, this was my first Halloween in this small town and in this flat. I had been soooo excited to give out candy for the first Halloween ever! And I was MISING IT!! With haste, but as respectfully as possible, I lifted up Elegance and placed him gently on the couch. He looked up at me sleepily and then curled up on the couch again. Vor, who had leaped up onto his feet the moment the bell rang, looked up at me expectantly. "Hey," said, smiling, "this is probably your first halloween too, isn't it?" Vor didn't answer of course, but he seemed interested at least. "Well let's go! Or we'll miss 'em!" I said and raced to the door, the candy bowl already sitting out and ready. I handed Vor one of the loose candy corns from the basket. "No more, though, buddy." I said, "Well... maybe a few more... we'll see." With that I opened the door. To my relief, the kids seemed to only just be turning away. "Wait!" I called, and they turned back. I was happy to see one of them had their hellund by their side. Always good to make sure your child had their protector with them, even one so small. You never know what might happen on All Hallows Eve. As I was handing out the candies, one of the kids (a... goblin of some sort..? Maybe...? Ah, it didn't matter) suddenly squealed. "Ooooh, he's pretty!" she said, pointing at Vor. Apparently this was the first time the others had noticed him. Vor was just watching them, with the same intensity that he often watched me. But that didn't seem to curb the kids' excitement. "Wow, he has pretty wings!" said one of the other kids, "Can I pet 'im? Please, I mean?" I glanced down at Vor, not sure whether he'd be good with that. I didn't know him all that well yet... But to my surprise and delight, he took a confident step towards the kids, dipping his head to be pet. "Now be very careful," I warned, "or his spikes'll get ya." Very carefully and respectfully, the kids took turns petting him. Then they said a polite thank you and headed onwards. I sighed in satisfaction, sitting in my chair that I set by the door for the occasion. "Well that went well." I said to Vor, who dipped his head at me, eyes seeming to be asking something. "Uh huh, I know what those eyes mean." I said, chuckling as I fished out another candy corn for him. "Thanks for putting up with that, by the way." I added, gently caressing the side of Vor's head gently as I had learned to do. Vor swished his tail and glanced at the door. A moment later the bell rang again. "Alrighty, let's go, partner." I said, enthusiastically as I opened the door again. The night went smoothly, with El and even Obsession occasionally showing up to help. But Vor stayed by my side the whole night long, patiently letting kids admire him and munching on the occasional candy piece offered him. But finally I was certain we'd seen the last of the kids in our neighborhood and I turned off the porch light. "So," I asked my steadfast companion, "what did you think? Wasn't that fun?" In answer, Vor rubbed up against my legs a few times before heading back to his place by the fire. I assumed that was a good sign and went about my way, cleaning up. "Can't wait till next year!" I called to my sleepy friends on my way to the kitchen. | Design © Inkeyu of CS | Character © PixieStoryteller (me!) |

Once again, Obsession was practically no where to be seen except brief glimpses and the occasional sudden nip out of no where in greeting before he dashed off again. However, in addition to Elegance's sedate stride beside me, there was now added Passion's queenly grace, draped across my shoulders with her head high as she surveyed the terrain around us as if it were her estate. Every once in a while she would rub the side of her head against the side of mine to reassure me. I approached the clearing, the star already etched into the earth, with consternation. I had been blessed with three Hellunds... Would I be blessed with another..? Or was I asking too much of fate..? Carefully I placed the candles around the small star and then waited. Moments later they lit of their own accord. Well, at least that went right... "If you come, I promise to care for you, anything you need, it will be yours." I said, placing down the mochi I had brought with me at the spot I believed to be the top of the star. "If you come, I promise to make sure you're always happy and safe." I intoned as I placed a soft, knitted blanket I had made myself. "If you come, I promise to share everything with you, what's mine will also be yours." I said as I placed a key at the third and final point. Finally, I placed down a piece of yarn I had braided into a mobius knot saying, "If you come, I promise that we will be together forever. You are welcome. Please come..." With that I waited. It wasn't long before the candles flared and, in the center, a white flame began to rise up. It flared and then died and in its place stood the hellund, his white markings seeming almost to glow in the flickering light of his orange flames. He turned around and immediately went for his mochi, his tail waving briskly as he consumed the treat with obvious delight. Then he whirled around to face me, his jaw open and his tongue hanging out in an open, friendly manner. He pranced over to me and immediately nuzzled into my outstretched palm affectionately. "Well," I said, smiling as the others, even Sesh, came and greeted our new friend, "I guess that answers that question!" | Design © Inkeyu of CS | Character © PixieStoryteller (me!) |

Retribution
Pronouns: They/them
Age: 4 weeks old Parent 1: Tenebre Parent 2: Abigor Summoning Star: 6 points Traits Displayed: R/O/Y flames, stripes, spots, spinal spikes, spiky face mask, bright colors, tail spikes, larger claws, rainbow body/spine/tail/head Genetics: CFc/Dcc/STc/SPc/Hcc/SSc/Cfu/Xfu/SFu/Ltu/Dpu/BCr/TSu/Stu/Cfr/Hr/Str/Xlr/Wsr/Sfr/Tr/Mbr/Cfx/Lhx/LCx/RBx Favorite Treat: Red vines Summoning Ritual: I looked sorrowfully at the star, slightly scuffed with time. Why had no one been here already? Or had people come by and just ignored the star? I couldn't understand. With these creatures being as magnificent as they were, how could one go unsummoned for so long? Well, I would try to give them a good home at least, if the star was even working still. I began by placing some red vines on the point of the star. "Fierce one, I will care for you. " I intoned as the words came slowly into my mind. "I respect you." I continued as I placed down a black velvet pillow on the next point. "I offer you a home." As I placed down a soft blanket. "I offer you friendship." I promised as I set down a picture of myself and my growing family of hellunds. "I offer you a welcoming space." I said as I placed a coal from my fire place. "And I offer you this world, to explore and discover by my side and with my aid." and with that I set down a photo album I had put together containing pictures of different landscapes from all over the world. "Oh, Magnificent One, I revere you." I said finally, emphasizing the fifth word as I placed a small, multi-colored, stained glass vase with two sticks of lit incense placed inside in the center of the star. I then stepped back as the candles around flashed briefly, then seemed to sputter in unison. It seemed as though something was responding to my ritual, but something was wrong. I frowned at a spot in the star where the line seemed to have been entirely scuffed out. On instinct, I went over and carefully drew the line back in. "Aaah!" I yelled, as energy surged through the star, zapping at me. It wasn't painful exactly, but it was startling and there was a weird mark on my finger now which had been touching the star. However, I didn't have time to examine it as a flame sputtered into life in the center of the star and a hellund lunged out of it, tension in every muscle of their body. I froze. None of my hellunds thus far had looked this aggressive. The creature stared around the space, almost looking as though they were searching for a target. And then, they locked eyes on me. Despite their small size, I thought for a moment that I was a goner. However, after about a minute of staring, the creature relaxed, eyes softening. In relief, I released the breath I had been holding. I didn't blame them for being angry. I would have been too for waiting so long. But it looked as though they realised that I wasn't the reason. They were now looking at each individual object I had placed for them. They seemed to especially like the photo album and after nosing through some of the pages, picked it up and disappeared with it. I chuckled to myself and made a plan to take a trip to some local parks so that... Retribution could explore them for themself. Yeah, that seemed like an appropriate name considering how they had entered this world. A few moments later, Retribution returned and trotted up to me. "Hello." I said, reaching out a hand to them. They sniffed it once, then suddenly trotted back to the star and picked up the blanket in their teeth before trotting back again, looking expectantly at me. I guess they were ready to go home. | Design © Inkeyu of CS | Character © PixieStoryteller (me!) |
